1. Yale carries out its mission “through the free exchange of ideas in an ethical, interdependent, and diverse community.” Reflect on a time when you exchanged ideas about an important issue with someone holding an opposing view. How did the experience lead you either to change your opinion or to sharpen your reasons for holding onto it?

2. Reflect on a time when you have worked to enhance a community to which you feel connected. Why have these efforts been meaningful to you? You may define community however you like.

耶魯的題目在實質上跟達特茅斯極為相近，其實都讓人有些懷疑，這兩所藤校是不是約好了同時放題的吧？在耶魯的提問之中，則把關注的重心更放在了學術的興趣之上，而這也非常符合耶魯對于學術的高標準、嚴要求。

尤其是在回答第一題：“描述三個你感興趣的學術領域”時，大家一定要記住，如果你只是簡單的回答了“經濟、地理、人文”等等這樣寬泛的方向，一定是不符合要求的。一個更好的答案可能是“18世紀英國女性作家在爭取平等選舉權之中發揮的影響力”，或者是“量子力學雙縫實驗如何減少變量準確觀測“等等極其具體、并且能反映出你對該領域廣博知識的命題。

第二小問，在描述這個學術領域為什么啟發了你、影響了你的時候，同學們也注意一定要拿出自己的學術范兒，穿透學術領域之中的核心。我們可以把它想象為一個簡單的research proposal，例如：在討論你對于18世紀女性作家在平權方面的貢獻時，一定要深入到具體哪一位女性的foundational work，或者某一篇文章之中促成了paradigm shift的觀點，你認為是被學術界所低估的？有沒有哪些亟待解決的疑點和研究方向，是你期待利用耶魯的資源來完成的？

而耶魯最難攻克的題目則無疑是35字的短問答。在寫這篇文章時，我們可以利用的一個小竅門是：先寫一個更長的、100到200字的版本，從中精簡和濃縮你的內容。這一篇文章雖然只有35字，但它所需要體現的廣度、深度和維度一定需要更大體量的內容來承擔。因此，從一篇更長的文章來進行縮減，就能得到更好的寫作效果。
